The Warsaw Stock Exchange saw the placement of more than 200 companies (in the main market and NewConnect), despite an economic slowdown in Europe's financial markets in 2011. As for today, foreign companies from 20 countries are quoted on the WSE. The largest group from Ukraine is among them.

The growing importance of the WSE and its recognition compared to other markets throughout the year attracted not only new issuers and investors, but also intermediaries, both from Poland and other countries. The number of IPO-partners has significantly increased up to 27 entities from 12 countries. At the end of 2011,  30 companies from Poland and 31 from other countries became members of the WSE.

In terms of the cost of IPO, after three quarters of 2011 the WSE ranked third among European stock exchanges, ahead, Deutsche Boerse and the Oslo Stock Exchange, as well as group Nasdaq OMX.

Due to the growing number of Ukrainian companies the WSE launched a new index on the 4th of May. At present, WIG-Ukraine is the first and only index outside Ukraine, the portfolio of which embraced exclusively Ukrainian companies.
